The South Carolina Strawberry Festival Poster Contest is open to any individual regardless of age, residency, or professional/amateur status. Participants may enter up to two pieces of original artwork for consideration. (A separate entry form is required for each submission.) The same artwork cannot be used for both categories.

 

SUBMISSIONS BECOME PROPERTY OF FESTIVAL

 

All entries shall become property of the Town of Fort Mill and the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Committee (hereafter the “Festival Organizers.”) Except where prohibited by law, by participating in the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Poster Contest, you authorize the Festival Organizers to copy, alter, adapt, publish, distribute, exhibit, display, market, sell, promote, advertise, publicize and otherwise use your entry, including your name, signature, and other entry materials, as well as additional photographs, video footage or other images that the Festival Organizers may take of you as a Winner or Participant, in any manner and for whatever purpose the Festival Organizers shall elect without further compensation, notification or permission. You shall not claim or be entitled to receive any compensation for such use.

 

ENTRY PERIOD

 

Entries for the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Poster Contest will be accepted beginning on January 16, 2013 and ending at 5:00 pm on March 8, 2013.

 

ENTRY PROCESS

 

To enter, please complete the official entry form and return it along with your submission by the entry deadline. A separate entry form is required for each submission. Submissions may be delivered to Fort Mill Town Hall (Administration Office), 112 Confederate Street, during regular business hours (8:30 am to 5:00 pm). CONTEST DIVISIONS

 

The 2013 Strawberry Festival Poster Contest will include two divisions:

• Youth/Student: Open to individuals/students who are 18 years of age or younger.
• Open Division: Open to all participants regardless of age. (Exceptional youth/student artists may compete in the open division.

The first, second, and third place winners in each division will be revealed and recognized on stage during the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Pageant on April 27, 2013.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Each entry must be an original piece of artwork created by the artist. Entries may not include any identifiable person, image, or material in which a third party has any intellectual or other property rights.

 

All entries shall be approximately 16” x 20” in size. Entries may be modified in size to accommodate layout, printing, and/or reproduction requirements.

 

There is no restriction on artistic medium; however, all artwork must be suitable for scanning and reproduction on posters, t-shirts, and other festival-related merchandise. Submissions may include, but are not limited to: paintings (oil, water color, etc), drawings, photographs, digital renderings, collages, etc. If submitting a digital rendering, please enclose a printed copy as well as USB or CD copy of the file.

 

Entries should be strawberry-related or include a strawberry theme. The use of local landmarks is encouraged, though not required. The official theme for this year’s festival is “It’s One Super Berry!”

 

Entries may not be obscene, indecent, offensive, violent, hateful, or libelous, or contain any other content otherwise prohibited by law or inconsistent with the purposes of South Carolina Strawberry Festival.

 

Festival dates, logo and other content will be added to the final poster design and does not need to be incorporated into the artwork. It is recommended that artists include a small signature or mark as well as the year “2013” on the lower corner of their artwork.

JUDGING

 

Judging will take place by March 15, 2013. The top three finalists will be announced in early April 2013.

 

WINNERS & PRIZES

 

The top three finalists from both divisions will be recognized on stage during the 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Pageant on Saturday, April 27, 2013 (7:00 to 10:00 pm at Nation Ford High School). Winners will be announced at that time and do not need to be present to win.

Open Division Prizes:

• First Place: $500 cash prize and the honor of being selected as the official festival poster design for the 2013 SC Strawberry Festival
• Second Place: $300 cash prize
• Third Place: $200 cash prize

Youth/Student Division Prizes:

• First Place: $100 cash prize
• Second Place: $75 cash prize
• Third Place: $50 cash prize
