ELIGIBILITY

 

The South Carolina Strawberry Festival Poster Contest is open to any individual regardless of age, residency, or professional/amateur status. Participants may enter up to two pieces of original artwork for consideration. (A separate entry form is required for each submission.)

 

ENTRIES BECOME PROPERTY OF FESTIVAL

 

All entries shall become property of the Town of Fort Mill and the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Committee (hereafter the “Festival Organizers.”) Except where prohibited by law, by participating in the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Poster Contest, you authorize the Festival Organizers to copy, alter, adapt, publish, distribute, exhibit, display, market, sell, promote, advertise, publicize and otherwise use your entry, including your name, signature, and other entry materials, as well as additional photographs, video footage or other images that the Festival Organizers may take of you as a Winner or Participant, in any manner and for whatever purpose the Festival Organizers shall elect without further compensation, notification or permission. You shall not claim or be entitled to receive any compensation or credit for such use.

 

ENTRY PERIOD

 

Entries for the South Carolina Strawberry Festival Poster Contest will be accepted beginning on January 17, 2012 and ending at 5:00 pm on March 16, 2012.

 

ENTRY PROCESS

 

To enter, please complete the official entry form and return it along with your submission by the entry deadline. A separate entry form is required for each submission. Submissions may be delivered to Fort Mill Town Hall (Administration Office), 112 Confederate Street, during regular business hours (8:30 am to 5:00 pm). For delivery by mail, please call (803) 547-2116 for instructions. There is no fee to enter.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Each entry must be an original piece of artwork created by the artist. Entries may not include any identifiable person, image, or material in which a third party has any intellectual or other property rights.

 

All entries shall be approximately 16” x 20” in size. Entries may be modified in size to accommodate layout, printing, and/or reproduction requirements.

 

There is no restriction on artistic medium; however, all artwork must be suitable for scanning and reproduction on posters, t-shirts, and other festival-related merchandise. Submissions may include, but are not limited to: paintings (oil, water color, etc), drawings, photographs, digital renderings, collages, etc.

 

Entries should be strawberry-related or include a strawberry theme. The use of local landmarks is encouraged, though not required. The official theme for this year’s festival is “There's only one place to find the best berries in the Carolinas!”

 

Entries may not be obscene, indecent, offensive, violent, hateful, or libelous, or contain any other content otherwise prohibited by law or inconsistent with the purposes of South Carolina Strawberry Festival.

 

Dates, logos and other content will be included on the final poster design and should not be incorporated into the artwork. It is recommended that artists include a small signature or mark as well as the year “2012” on the lower corner of their artwork.

JUDGING

 

Judging will take place between March 19, 2012 and March 30, 2012. The top three finalists will be announced in early April 2012.

 

WINNERS & PRIZES

 

The top three finalists will be recognized on stage during the 2012 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Pageant on Thursday, May 3rd (7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nation Ford High School). The first, second, and third place winners will be revealed during the pageant. The winning artist will receive a $300 cash prize and the honor of being selected as the official festival poster for the 2012 SC Strawberry Festival. The second place winner will receive a $200 cash prize, and the third place winner will receive a $100 cash prize. Winners do not need to be present to win.
