![]() The Texaco Country Showdown begins each spring with over 450 local contests sponsored by radio stations all across America. Contestants must begin at the local level. All local winners will advance to their State competitions, where they will compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title, and the chance to advance to one of five Regional Finals. The five regional winners will compete in the National Final held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The winner of the Country Showdown will receive the National Title and a Grand Prize of $100,000!
The Texaco Country Showdown is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, individuals, and groups of up to seven members who have not performed on a record listed in the national record charts (Billboard, Radio and Records, or The Gavin Report) within the 18 months preceding the local competition. To ensure fairness, a uniform judging system will be used at all levels of competition.
There is a $20 entry fee per act (cash or money order only). First-time contestants must also submit a demo recording as part of their registration packet. Entry forms will be accepted between March 15th and April 27th. Entry forms and instructions may be downloaded below.
The Texaco Country Showdown, presented by WRHI and Interstate 107, will take place between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on the Main Stage. The event is free and open to the public. A live broadcast from the event will also be featured on Interstate 107 FM and online at www.FM107.com.
