The third annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival Golf Tournament was held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill, SC. A record total of 35 teams (140 golfers) participated in this year's sold out event.
With a pre-handicap score of 57, the team of Dan Page, Dayton Rugg, Bob Pitzer and Chuck Beard was recognized as our 2013 Gross Division Champions. Each player received a $125.00 gift card to the Springfield Golf Club Clubhouse.
With a post-handicap score of 51.3, the team of Steve Brakstad, Shannon Brakstad, Kevin Eby & Maria Eby was recognized as our 2013 "Net" Division Champions. Each player received a $125.00 gift card to the Springfield Golf Club Clubhouse.
With a pre-handicap score of 82, the team of Joe Cronin, Jason Thomton, James McCallister & Virginia McCallister was recognized as the last place team in this year's event. Each player received a free golf lesson from Bruce Parker at the Effortless Golf Center.
Prizes were awarded to participants from the top six teams in each division. Additional prizes were awarded for various on-course skills competitions. The 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Golf Tournament was presented by Piedmont Medical Center. Breakfast and lunch was provided by our meal sponsor, Bojangles.
The 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Pageant was held on Saturday, April 27th, at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill. A total of 28 contestants, ranging in age from 14 to 56, competed for the coveted title of Strawberry Queen in three divisions: Teen, Miss and Mrs.
Liza Walker (Teen), Halle Hillman (Miss) & Dana Boutwell (Mrs.) were selected as this year’s Strawberry Festival Queens. First runners up were Maria Teal (Teen), Sarah Margaret McGuirt (Miss) and Monika Zimmerman (Mrs.).
Through our annual People's Choice Award, the 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Pageant raised $500.00 for this year's official charity, All YOUth on Board, an anti-bullying organization serving schools and students in York County. This year's People's Choice Award winner was Austen Phillips.

Wink Rea, Chairman of the 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival, unveiled the official festival poster for 2013 during the fourth annual Strawberry Festival Pageant on Saturday, April 27th, at Nation Ford High School.
This year's winning design is an oil on canvas painting by artist Bethany Hadden of Charlotte, NC. Bethany's design will be featured on the official poster and t-shirt of the 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival, both of which will be available for sale on Fri. May 3rd and Sat. May 4th at the Strawberry Festival Merchandise Tent.

The South Carolina Strawberry Festival in Fort Mill – South Carolina’s back-to-back Event of the Year – is pleased to announce its two-day entertainment lineup for the 2013 Strawberry Jam.
Headlining the festival will be the Marshall Tucker Band, taking the stage at 9:00 p.m. Friday night. The Marshall Tucker Band is an American Southern rock/country rock band originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Other nationally known acts such as The Producers and YouTube sensation Noah Guthrie will headline Saturday night.
The festival will also showcase several local and regional bands, including Summer Daze, Continental Divide, the Taylor Brothers and Plair.
Festival Chairman Wink Rea said, "I could not be more pleased with the quality and diversity of the bands we have performing at this year’s Festival, including South Carolina’s own Marshall Tucker Band. The Strawberry Festival Committee strives to deliver quality music and entertainment that appeals to all ages and demographics while remaining family oriented. During the weekend of May 3rd and 4th, the South Carolina Strawberry Festival will feature 22 live performances on two stages at Fort Mill’s Walter Elisha Park, located off of N. White Street in downtown Fort Mill.

The SC Strawberry Festival was recognized as South Carolina’s Event of the Year for the second straight year and won Best Non-Print Media during the annual South Carolina Festival and Event Planners Conference and Trade Show. This year’s event was held in North Charleston, SC on January 21, 2013. “It is outstanding to be recognized,” said Mayor Danny Funderburk about the consecutive wins. “The South Carolina Strawberry Festival is an event that keeps bringing home gold because of its ongoing quality. This recognition is a testament to the individuals and committee who work so hard on the festival each year.”

The South Carolina Event of the Year award is presented annually by the South Carolina Festival and Events Association to the most outstanding festival or event in the state. Accepting the award on behalf of the SC Strawberry Festival Planning Committee were Wink Rea, 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Chairman; Joe Cronin, 2012 Marketing Team Leader; and Kimberly Starnes, Events and Media Coordinator for the Town of Fort Mill.

The SC Strawberry Festival was recognized as South Carolina’s Event of the Year
during the annual Carolina Showfest Conference Awards Ceremony, held in
Charlotte, NC on January 23, 2012. The award is presented each year to the most
outstanding festivals and events in North and South Carolina. Festival
Director, Brown Simpson; Activities Team Leader, Janice May; and Marketing Team
Leader, Joe Cronin; were in Charlotte to accept the award on behalf of the SC
Strawberry Festival Planning Committee.
On Wednesday, June 1, 2011, representatives from the South Carolina Strawberry Festival traveled to the Statehouse in Columbia, SC to present Governor Nikki Haley with a basket of fresh, locally grown strawberries from Fort Mill. The delegation was led by Fort Mill Mayor Danny Funderburk, Festival Chairman David Ward, Ron Edwards of Springs Farm, and Strawberry Queens Nikita Maigur and Morgan Jasper.
The 2011 SC Strawberry Festival Pageant was held on Thursday, May 5th at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill. Morgan Jasper (Teen), Nikita Maigur (Miss) & Christy Roberts (Mrs.) were selected as this year’s Strawberry Festival Queens. Our 2011 Queens will move on and compete for their respective state titles during next spring’s South Carolina International Pageant.
The inaugural SC Strawberry Festival Golf Tournament was held on Wednesday, May 4th at Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill. With a low score of 48, the team of Charlie Miller, Don Currier, Clair Jaberg & John Turner, beat out 32 other teams to win the first annual event. Proceeds from the tournament were donated to the Fort Mill Care Center to support their mission of assisting needy families in the Fort Mill area.
